The Longs served for eight years on the staff of the Townsend Institute for International Relations and ultimately managed the program. The TIIR delivered training in leadership, management, public relations and fundraising for mission leaders and ministry professionals who served cross-culturally around the world. They conducted Townsend Institutes throughout North America and in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

They directed Wycliffe Associates of Canada for seven years, where Jerry was Director and CEO and Brenda served as Chief Financial Officer. Together they organized the first ever touring dinner theatre ministry that effectively communicated the Wycliffe story to over 100,000 Canadians. Jerry wrote and produced stage plays, designed sets and managed the artistic elements of the theatre program. They recruited and trained teams of young performing artists, stage crews and kitchen crews who toured the U.S. and Canada and conducted 80 dinner theatre events each year.

Jerry and Brenda retired from Wycliffe in October, 2006 and Brenda went to be with the Lord in January, 2007. Since then Jerry has founded Kingdom Come Training, which uses videoconferencing to equip missionaries and missionary candidates to raise their support in much less time than it normally takes.
