12. Closing
The Closing module must accomplish two things: (1) reassure the audience that the decision to start doing, stop doing, or do something differently is the right decision, and (2) give them a clear opportunity to respond. Reassurance is best accomplished with a story. The story might have qualities of the “Is-It-Worth-It-All” module in which making the right decision was put to the supreme test and proven correct.
The clear opportunity to respond is accomplished by a clear and direct statement of how you want your audience to respond.
Examples:
- “Here is how you get started: Fill in the response card and turn it in today.”
- “If there are secrets in your life that damage relationships and keep you miserable and defeated, now is the time to break their power over you by confessing them, first to God, then to your spouse, to a friend, or to your pastor. Don’t wait; do it today.”
- “Call the number on your brochure, check out the website, maybe send us and e-mail right away, and we can quickly connect you with this amazing opportunity.”
- “Make out your check to …”
